Environment and Conservation Fund The Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum: Pushing the Frontiers of Biodiversity Knowledge

*Deadline: Oct 31st 2026*
Hong Kong Ant Photo Contest
Ants don’t only come in large numbers, astonishing diversity is hidden among these tiny critters. As of 2026, over 370 ant species across 80 genera are recorded in Hong Kong, but many more still remain undiscovered and undescribed. As arguably one of the most successful and important groups of organisms on Earth, ants come in all shapes, colors and sizes, and display fascinating social and individual behaviours, while interacting with a plethora of other organisms. Take a look to discover these incredible animals!
To celebrate the fourth edition of our photography competition, the Hong Kong Biodiversity Museum invites you to capture images of Formicidae: the ants! Let’s document the incredible diversity of ecological interactions, behaviors, and astonishing adaptations of these tiny organisms. Grab your camera and seize the chance to win some fantastic prizes! Perhaps you could be the next person to discover a species new to science!
