食性 Diet
大多數的幼蟲以水生植物、藻類、硅藻或植物碎屑為食。少數會吃其他水生昆蟲、甲殼類動物和軟體動物。大多數成蟲不覓食,有些會啜食花蜜。
Most larvae feed on aquatic plants, algae, diatoms, or plant debris. A few eat other aquatic insects, crustaceans, and mollusks. Most adult caddisflies do not feed and some sip nectar from flowers.
小知識 Fun Fact
石蛾幼蟲是水質的良好指標,因為它們只在非常乾淨的水中生存。幼蟲也會築巢,巢是由絲黏合的材料所構成。巢的材質與形狀會因物種而異。
Caddisflies larvae are good indicators of water quality because they only survive in very clean water. The larvae also build nests that are constructed with materials bonded by silk. The choice of material and shape of their nests vary with species.
